Times have absolutely changed. Traditional Asian women have been stereotyped not too long ago as shy, conservative and submissive, even. A lot of things have changed, and I believe that I was just at the right age to witness the evolution of not only the Filipina, but most Asian Women as well. I was in my teens during the 1990’s, and by today’s standards that puts me kind of in between generations. Filling the gap among the wiser, more conservative older generation, and today’s open-minded and free-spirited members of Generation X.

The transitional period, I believe, happened in the mid to late 90’s where Asian Women just seemed to acquire that sense of rebellion and non-conformist attitude. It was first apparent with their fashion sense. Remember when showing too much skin and even a little cleavage used to be a mortal sin? Those days are done. Asian Women all over the world are as proud as ever to show their beautiful physiques off. And why not? Asian genes seem to have found the perfect formula. Meaning these days, not only do Asian Women have the most beautiful faces in the world, but their bodies are as shapely as ever.

It is in the business world, however, where Asian women have been making the most noise. Whether it’s running a small- scale business, to calling the shots at some major company, to building her very own empire. People are taking notice. The lonely housewife that pays attention to her husband’s every whim image? Forget about it. Need Proof? Even R and B superstar, Ne-yo has payed homage to the respect that women command nowadays with his hit song “Miss Independent”. Well, okay, you got me. Maybe the song wasn’t exactly written with Asian women in mind, but it definitely fits them to a “T”. Oh, the those Asian women… intelligent, hard-working, kind and beautiful. You have to love them.
