The Asian woman now can hardly be recognized by the Asian woman of past, the new shoes, clothes and hairstyle is enough to confuse them. But if one looks carefully, there are still some traits from past Asian women that have survived and can be found flowing in the bloodstream of the Asian woman now. Come to think of it, the two generations are not that far apart from each other. Disregard the clothes and accessories and you’ll be looking at the same woman.
They are both hardworking. It may be different fields of work already, but basically it shows the same perseverance of the Asian woman. The modern Asian woman may go to work in high rise buildings, but it is roughly the same amount of work that their predecessors endured to survive. Work was just as hard and hectic before as it is today, the job description is different but the input of effort is equal.
Motherhood in Asia may have changed since the past generations, but Asian mothers still want the same thing for their children. Growing up, my mother made sure that I would become a well-rounded person. I believe that the tradition of teaching children of age-old values that have been in the family for generations is still being practiced by the modern mom. Technology has made a big impact in raising children. New mothers may have it easier because of technology, but technology also gives them more reasons to worry about the safety of their children.
Education that is available to women in Asia has improved dramatically. We are equals now with the males in the society and can achieve anything they throw at us. Does that mean we are smarter than the women of time long gone? Well, it depends on how a person looks at it. Asian women now may be given more education opportunities, but they don’t have the education gained from experience that their mothers and grandmothers underwent. Those bits of wisdom helped them carry on with their lives during times of difficulty. The skills that the Asian women of the past possess are extremely valuable and are at times still helpful in the modern age.
Bottom line is, we should never underestimate the power of women in Asia, be it in the present or the past.

Aside from the fact that Asian woman are still pretty tight to their customs and habits to take care of their family but there is also hundreds of reasons actually can be found in reply to the question of why many of Asian woman get married to European Male (or maybe why European Male are prefer to have Asian bride :-))
In a small island where I live now, Bali, there are hundreds of Indonesian married to foreigner for a reason, can be Love (at 1st sight), romanticism, sex & virginity, Instant Wealthy, Upgrade their social status and many other. This also change their behavior in general day to day activity, some of them are become snob some of them are remain humble.
But the main things is that the value of Asian woman which made them so special such as subservient and loyal is gradually downgraded and they are act like westerner more demanding and some of them are really annoying to other by acting that they are more western then the westerner
I still adore my mother ‘motherly intuition’ and her energy to survive and keep me alive, and that makes the Family Value is still counted in most of Asian country, but about Asian Woman now and then I suppose is a very big difference and gap in between

After writting to my Lady for a year thru service We finally met face to face this October.
We no longer use service to communicate with each other, She translates thru google or gets help from english speaking family members. And I have very little knowledge of chinese ladies customs. Altough my Lady is Modern, She also very traditional. Do you have any suggestions
on any reading . In order to become more acustom to Her ways of life ? As to better understand
Her so I do not offend Her by accidently approaching things in the wrong direction ? I have met Her family and was invited to several dinners and days out with family together ! I really have to admit they are very wonderful people ! And do all they can to help Us together ! I was invited back to there home for family gathering and Tea , Where we discussed My Family, ancestory, postions I have and currently hold, Along with Our plans for future we have Together …
I was later told by My Lady that the Family accepts Me and holds Me in great respect !
After a year of writting to each other and finally getting to meet each other in person, We
really saw that it was a real match made in heaven !!! She is a really amazing women !!!
I will return to see her again in the spring of 2009, And would like to better understand Her culture as not to offend any body with My american ways , In public She will not show emotions or any affection when with family there , Is this a respect for self and family ? I fallow her lead
and just take it as it comes . And really dont want to step over the line so to speak !
Is there anything i can read in order to gain some insight to the Chinese culture that might help me to understand better ?
